Our Mission

Providing Excellent Care and Empowering Lives

Our mission at Walk of Grace Residential Services is to provide excellent services and treatment to all adults and youth, male and female with developmental disabilities, while simultaneously enhancing their well-being, comfort and happiness.

We are dedicated to enhancing their capabilities and gifts by providing programs that teach valuable life skills for full participation in everyday life. We understand that a residents environment facilitates their overall developmental progress and positive mindset. By providing our residents with a comfortable surrounding and loving care, we enable them to fully express their competencies and experience living a meaningful life.

Our Vision

By providing a structure and needed resources, the youth can progress in life and society and reach their potential.

We view each resident as unique and we recognize that care must be given with devotion, respect and dedication by a team of professional and experienced staff. Our policies and procedures reflect those of our home and of the current legislation within budgetary guidelines and precedents set out by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

Parents, foster parents, legal guardians, care-givers and extended family all play important roles in enhancing a resident’s overall sense of well-being. We encourage these relationships and support residents’ families who want to be involved in planning care and activity programs. Their comments and opinions are both sought and appreciated, as their involvement and support continue to add to the positive atmosphere generated by the home.

We believe in care that promotes and enhances the social inclusion and the quality of life of the residents. Through the efforts of a comprehensive care team, we take into account the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of each individual. WGRS also uses quality assurance measures. We promote social inclusion, individual choice, and independence to encourage each resident to increase their learning and enhance their skills.

Our Story

A Walk Through Time

In 2016, the Houkayem family moved out of their family home to convert it into a residential home for children with dual diagnoses. Since then, they haven’t looked back. Over time, this family-owned and operated residential program, located in Orleans, Ontario, has grown to include nine treatment programs, including an Adult Day Program in Eastern Ottawa.

The Houkayem siblings—Pamela, Elias, Natasha, and Sandrella Chalhoub—bring over 50 years of combined experience in mental health, developmental delays, and dual diagnoses. Together with their dedicated care team, they created programs that holistically address the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of every resident.

Our Team

Making a difference in our community is what we do

With over 50 years of combined experience, the Houkayem family and their professional care team provide a comprehensive range of programs and services. They believe in care that is respectful, inclusive, and uplifting, ensuring each individual’s unique needs are met.
